The Thatch Pub is situated in Crinkle a mile outside Birr Town on the Roscrea side of Birr. The Thatch offers a wide range of traditional, vegetarian and seafood dishes. The Thatch is well recognised for its good food, excellent service and great atmosphere and has won numerous awards to prove it. It has been well run by Proprietor Des Connole since 1991 and has a lovely warm characteristic feel about it. The elegant Emmet Restaurant is ideally located in the centre of Birr, within easy walking distance of the Castle and Theatre. Chef Stephen Hall has created an Italian and Modern Irish menu, available every evening between 5.30-9.00pm. The menu includes; steamed mussels, stone baked Italian style pizzas, a wonderful selection of pastas and risottos, a choice of vegetarian dishes and popular favourites such as Chicken Jane Hoop and Medallions of Beef.
The Emmet Restaurant is open for Sunday lunch between 12.30-2.30pm. A four course lunch is €20 per person.

The Stables Restaurant is owned by the Boyd family and is set in a characteristic establishment overlooking the tree-lined mall, in a lovely old Georgian house. It was originally well-known for many years as one of the area’s favourite restaurants - now it is run by Caroline Boyd, who has changed it not only into a restaurant but also a high quality furniture and gift shop, known as the Emporium at the Stables. The restaurant serves light lunches, snacks, wine, tea, coffee and homemade desserts and is served in the elegant drawing room, complete with comfortable armchairs and an open fire, they also have a beautiful front garden in which you can sit when the sun is out.
