Not only is Lough Boora Parklands a place to visit for its pure beauty and enjoyable walks, areas of the park have been developed into still water fishing lakes. Together the Lough Boora Parklands Group and Bord Na Mona with advice provided by the Central and Shannon Regional Fisheries Boards created this man made fishing lakes. The Development work started in 1994 and four freshwater fisheries were produced. The lakes were created by excavating the outstanding peat and deepening the proposed lake bed. The banks had to be reinforced and landscaping work had to be carried out to provide shelter. Not only can you fish in these areas you can also enjoy the picnic and parking facilities.
