The Birr Outdoor Education Centre is located on the Birr to Roscrea road, ten minutes drive from the Slievebloom Mountains, which provides the centre with a rich field of study for the historian, antiquarian, archaeologist, geologist and botanist. The Slieve Bloom Mountains along with the Shannon River are the base for a number of the outdoor education activities which include orienteering, field studies, rock climbing, hill walking and camping. There are day time camps available along with week long stay over programs that are action packed for young adventurers during the months of July and August. The accommodation can cater for up to 40 people with all the equipment supplied.

The centre will cater for group or team day outings, to school tours and individual visitors. Chose from rock-climbing, orienteering, hill walking, windsurfing, sailing, canoeing, gorge walking, archery and abseiling, to name but a few.
